Family Support

At Walter Halls we want our families and children to know where they can go if they require any additional support.
Gail Holmes

Gail Holmes, is our Family Support Worker, Attendance Officer and Lead DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead).

Kerrie Chandler

Kerrie Chandler is our Child Welfare Officer, Play Therapist and Deputy DSL. We are both based in the cabin. We also work closely with Lee Neal our Assistant SENDCo and DSL.

We are here to offer support to our families, if you have any concerns, in relation to child attendance, development, behavior concerns, friendships issues, sleep management or issues at home, please contact the school office and we can arrange a confidential meeting for you to speak to a member of our team.

Should you wish to speak to us you can call the school office (0115 9150045) or alternatively email us at:

We have recently set up a school PTA which we have called ‘Friends of Walter Halls’ (FOWH), if you wish to get involved, please email fowh@walterhalls.nottingham.sch.uk

We are also working with the Uniform Project Nottingham, a non-profit organisation that helps parents, schools and communities in Nottingham to reduce clothing waste by upcycling school uniforms. To find out when their uniform shop is open, please visit their Facebook page, call 07908 590611 or email uniformproject@hotmail.com.

Our school recently launched the Take Home Tuesday initiative, which is open to all of our families from 2.30pm each Tuesday. There are stalls of clothes and shoes (including non-uniform) for people to take for free, and we are aiming to grow this so that more items e.g., toys, can be made available to take for free each Tuesday too.

At Walter Halls we value the whole child and do whatever we can to support child welfare as well as academic success. Children who are happy, safe, secure and supported learn best of all.

Gail Holmes is available to support our families with a variety of issues, such as: attendance, behaviour, relationships and any general concerns around family welfare.

Kerrie Chandler supports children to feel safe and happy in school, she runs a 'Time to Talk' service for children who can self-refer to her as well as therapeutic play sessions for selected individuals.

Lee Neal works with individual children, small groups and supports in classrooms. He supports children with additional needs, as well as behavioural needs.

OUR PHILSOPHY IS TO BE OPEN AND HONEST AND BE AVAILABLE FOR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN TO HAVE SOMEONE TO TALK TO.
